It's finally here! Two months down the road. Here's the changelog:

Overview

  • A brand new layout!
  • New art.
  • Major changes for Journeys, Downtime, and the Traveler.
  • The Setting has evolved.
  • Skills have been completely reworked.
  • Gear has been removed (again).
  • Traits have been removed.
  • Countless clarity and text edits.

The Traveler

  • A setting primer to help you build your travelers has been added.
    • The Ten Families have been adjusted slightly to fit our evolving setting.
  • The Looks™ — Be whoever you want to be.
  • Who Are You? More questions to help you figure out who your traveler is.
  • Skills! A brand-spanking new skill system has been created. Give us your feedback.
  • Burdens are clearer.
  • Corruptions have been (re-)added. When you take a burden, you can choose to take a corruption instead. Go with the flow.

The Journey

  • The Caravan mechanics have been removed.
  • The journey track has been removed and replaced with quest and side-quest tracks.
  • Quests: The journey's mission. There are five quest categories to help you envision quests.
  • Side-quests: More flexible objectives; these can be long or short-term goals.
  • The journey structure has changed - the caravan event at the end of the chapter is the only mainstay.
  • New events have been added! Soul Search will be expanded in a future version. (tables, yay! let's give it up for Abby's layout!)
  • Biomes have been reworked!
    • Biomes have three waypoints each, special environments around points of interest.
    • We've made space for our future vendor tables. Every biome will have its own list of vendors.

Downtime

  • Downtime scenes! Make your own, or use our suggested scenes. Rest, and relax.

The World

  • The groundwork for the expanded setting pages has been laid.
  • A Wellspring RPG Season 1 preview is somewhere in this section...

Battle

  • SOON.

Let's Chat / What's Next?

Battle. Tactical combat. That's next. We'll be releasing a set of mini updates (outside of our usual hotfixes, because we're goblins) that will target playtest feedback and additional tables. Those small updates will contain some juice that didn't make it within our two-month deadline. This update is huge. I'm not playin'. It's massive. We rewrote most of the game, and fit it into a brand-new layout over the holiday season. Battle (and beta) is slated for March(-ish), which will bring us to our 1-year anniversary! That's the plan, we'll see where the cards fall won't we?

The skeleton advances.

We've written more setting to fit in with our goals for storytelling and running games in the future. For those who have been following since 0.1, we've expanded the planet's hazards quite a bit, which was the plan for Season 2, but we've decided that we could focus on more enemy types and that's a good thing for our storytelling. I've always wanted to fill the planet with all sorts of gnarly things, and it gives me (gwaja) more to write about. Love that for me.

We've got the Miragecast, the website, and more on the way this year as well. 2023 is going to be amazing. Let's attack it together, fam.
